You need a bachelor's degree comparable to a Norwegian bachelor's degree (at least 3 years). The University of Stavanger lists these combinations: - West African Senior School Certificate (from 2006) or West African Senior Secondary School Certificate (1993–2005) in at least 6 subjects, including English, Mathematics and Integrated Science, plus 4 years of university education - WAEC GCE O level plus 4 years of university education - WAEC GCE A level (3 A levels) plus 3 years of university education Other universities assess this themselves, so check the university you apply to.
Minimum grade: Second Class Upper Division or higher (University of Stavanger). Each course also sets its own requirements in your field of study.
Applicants with a degree from Ghana are generally exempt from an English test.
Usually exempt if English was part of your upper secondary exam: - UiO: English from WASSCE with grade C4 or better - UiB: SSSCE, WASSCE or WAEC GCE O/A level with English in the curriculum - UiS: completed upper secondary school in Ghana - NTNU: an English-taught bachelor's degree from Ghana (NTNU says its A-level exemption is under review)
Courses can set their own English requirements, so check each course too.
Transcripts must be sent directly from your university to the admissions office (UiO, UiS, and NTNU in a sealed envelope). Also upload a scanned copy in Søknadsweb by the deadline. At UiS, only applications whose transcripts arrive directly by 1 February are considered. Secondary school certificates must be issued by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC).
Rules differ between universities and can change each year. Always check the admission page of the university you are applying to.
